Housing sales: Housing sales reached 33,201 transactions in August, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%, but the average price per square metre of homes sold was €1,271, a fall of 7.3%.
Mortgage lending: Mortgage loans for the purchase of a dwelling reached 17,567 new loans, thus increasing by 6.5% year-on-year.
However, the average amount fell by 3.4% year-on-year.
In my view, these numerical assessments of growth should be seen in relation to the "rehabilitated" activity since the end of the Alarm State. I have been able to verify this in my notarial office in Elche, where notarial activity clearly increased in the third quarter of the year, as a result of the accumulation of work derived from the enormous stoppage in the second quarter, although it seems that certain parameters of normality are returning in the last quarter of the year.
What are the prospects for the future? I understand that notarial activity will suffer a recession in line with the economic recession.
